Finely flavoured and pressed until wafer-thin, the 365 calendar days can be individually detached and brewed directly in the cup with hot water. JSPR: “Diamonds” Hanging Lights

Diamonds is a series of hanging pendants designed by Sylvie Meuffels for JSPR that cross industrial with a bit of classy elegance. Much like the stones they’re named after, these eye-catching lights will shine from the ceiling they hang from. There are three geometric, diamond-shaped variations to choose from and the metal cage frames are made from powder-coated steel in either black or gold. Photos by Lisa Klappe.

i29 Interior Architects: Home 09

Plywood has been making the rounds in the design world proving that the relatively inexpensive material can be both viable and desirable, especially in the world of interiors. i29 interior architects took the basic pine wood material and pushed it outside the box by covering large expanses of the interior to bring more warmth inside of Home 09. The home is designed by architect Paul de Ruiter and sits on the edge of the Kennemer dunes in Bloemendaal, a city in the Netherlands. The sustainable home is minimalistic in design, wanting to respect the existing landscape that the house sits on. The wood is seen throughout the entire home, covering the walls, fireplace, shelving, and doors, warming up the traditionally cold feeling that white walls and concrete floors can bring. With floor-to-ceiling glass windows, it’s all about the view and nothing about the interior design distracts from that. The concrete floors, white walls, and wood paneling keep the inside simple and clean. Even the beds and furniture are cleverly built out of the paneling. Photos by i29 interior architects.

Koji Iyam: Colorful Masking Tape Installation

Art director and graphic designer Koji Iyama has been staging installations across Japan to promote the multifunctional uses of mt-masking tape. His latest installation arrived in Sendai, almost 2 years after it was ravaged by the devastating tsunami. Staged within an old warehouse, and utilizing its high ceilings, Iyama hung hundreds of rolls of masking tape from the ceiling, delineating space and affecting the flow of people. He then proceeded to cover the entire floor with masking tape as well, including all objects in his way, like bicycles.

Andrea Ponsi and Jensen Architects: House on the Bay

Part of Marin Living: Home Tours, House on the Bay, designed by Italian architect Andrea Ponsi with Jensen Architects as architect on record, sits on the prime shore of Tiburon Bay in California. Given its waterfront location, the house descends towards the beach with subtle changes in the elevation. The roof is covered in a standing seam copper that will weather naturally over time, as will the Ipe rainscreen facade. Horizontal lines play a large part in the design of the home with wooden slats covering the exterior and the solar glass panels covering the walkways. The design is composed of four distinct pavilions that form off of an open, interior courtyard and art gallery. The courtyard extends the interior space with the placement of large sliding glass doors and windows that completely open the space up. The same goes for the waterfront deck. The wide hallways are filled with sun from the interior courtyard and the window-lined exterior walls of the house. Wooden slats help with providing shade from the direct sun. Which Ecommerce Platform Is Right For Me?

For today’s infographic, we have some info on the world of ecommerce. What is ecommerce you say? Well, essentially it’s the method by which you choose to sell your junk on the internet (aside from ebay and craigslist). Sites like Ebay and Craigslist are ecommerce strategies, but the following platforms will give you the resources to build and manage an online store of your very own. There are many possible platforms for you to choose from, but here Brightpearl compares three of the biggest names. They have their own pros and cons, depending on your tech-savviness or payment preference. Magento seems to be the most customizable due to it being an open-source platform. Bigcommerce and Shopify on the other hand will box you into prebuilt features. As far as the differences in payment for these various platforms is concerned, Bigcommerce requires an all-in cost, while Shopify lets you have a lower starting cost and then pay as you use add-ons later. Also, it should be noted that if you also use ebay, amazon, or another store, you should invest in a central management system so that the various branches of your business may be more manageable.
